Steve Savage is running for the Maine Legislature, and the residents of Ellsworth and Trenton and Otis are fortunate to have the opportunity to choose a man like him.
Having watched Steve over the years, I can testify that he cares personally about the problems of the people he meets, while being tuned in to how they are affected by the larger issues in the state, the country and the world. He’s all you could ask for in a person to represent you.
Steve’s family roots in Down East Maine run way back. He and his wife have been in Trenton since 1979. He knows the people and issues of our area. At the same time, his experiences as one of the first graduates of the College of the Atlantic, as a Navy pilot, and as an international pilot for American Airlines, have brought him in touch with perspectives on local and national issues that few of us have.
On a recent radio candidate forum, a caller who had worked with Steve on Trenton issues summed him up well: “He learns all he can about a problem, thinks deeply about it, and then goes and really listens to what other people think about it.” When Steve began going door-to-door in this campaign and started meeting people with problems that could be addressed by existing services they were unaware of, he put together a list of services to help them.
Steve is consistent in refusing to involve himself with special interest groups of any kind. The people of Ellsworth, Trenton, and Otis can believe him when he says “I will be your representative in Augusta.”
