Bangor police are looking for five people in connection with an armed robbery that happened around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

According to reports, when officers arrived at 17 Carroll St. Wednesday evening, they spoke to three males who said that five people wearing dark clothing and masks forced their way into the residence looking for money. Two of the intruders reportedly had knives, and one had a bat.

According to a press release, the victims stated that after they provided the intruders with cash and some property, the five left on foot headed toward Third Street. None of the victims was injured.

A Bangor man was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with eluding an officer, operating under the influence of intoxicants and operating after habitual offender revocation of his license after police chased him in a car to a residence on Forest Avenue in Bangor.

Police noticed a man, later identified as Raymond Joseph Day, 41, of Bangor, leave the Big Apple on State Street. He was “unsteady” on his feet and drove over the curb onto Grove Street, going toward Somerset Street.

Day was taking wide turns and running into curbs, almost hitting parked vehicles on Grove Street and continued to do so after turning onto Somerset. Officer Jason Stuart turned on his lights and siren and attempted to stop him, but Day turned onto Forest Avenue and wouldn’t stop, according to reports. Day then took a sharp turn into a driveway at 151 Forest Ave., tried to go around the house and started sliding on the grass. He then tried to get out of the car. He was staggering and had bloodshot eyes, according to reports.

Stuart arrested Day and took him to the police station where it was determined that a combination of alcohol, Seroquel and possibly hydrocodone, was the cause for his erratic driving.

Day was taken to Penobscot County Jail. He remained there Thursday night.
