Pickering paces Eagles victory

GORHAM – Shelby Pickering scored a game-high 30 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Husson Eagles held off Bridgewater (Mass.) State 93-91 Saturday in the consolation round of a tournament at the University of Southern Maine.

Husson’s Carmen Ballard scored 17 points, and Holly Gracie added 12 points.

Bridgewater State’s Catie Furtado scored 23 points.

Bates wins Babson Tournament

At Babson Park, Mass., Val Beckwith scored 22 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Bobcats to a 75-64 win over Babson in the Babson Invitational championship game on Sunday. Bates defeated SUNY Geneseo 84-68 on Saturday.

On Saturday, Beckwith scored 21 points for Bates and Sarah Barton added 17 points. Matia Kostakis scored 14 points and Lauren Yanofsky added 12 points.

Annie Verdino paced SUNY Geneseo with 21 points.

On Sunday, Kostakis scored 18 points and added 11 rebounds for Bates. Teal Carroll scored 10 points.

Bekie Berg scored 20 points for Babson.
