CALLING ALL COOKIES

Hey, sweet thing.

Yeah, we’re talking to you – the one who spends the month of December baking cookies, the one whose batch is always the first to go at the cookie swap, not that you’d brag about it. No, you’re much too sweet for that. You’re the reason your friends all put on 5 pounds around the holidays. Nobody can resist your peanut butter kisses. Or your jam thumbprints. Or your lebkuchen.

Nor do we want to. In fact, why not share your recipe with the world? Or eastern Maine, at least. We want your best recipe for our first ever reader cookie swap. We’ll print our five favorites in the Dec. 13 food section of the Bangor Daily News, and all of the submissions will be posted on bangordailynews.com.

Is butter better than Crisco? Is your grandmother’s spritz recipe better than your neighbor’s pfeffernuesse? These are mysteries only our food writers can solve. And we’re excited to see how the cookie crumbles.

All recipes must be received by Friday, Dec. 8. To enter, send your recipe by e-mail to kandresen@bangor

dailynews.net with “cookie swap” in the subject line, or send a hard copy to Cookie Swap, Bangor Daily News, c/o Kristen Andresen, P.O. Box 1329, Bangor 04401-1329.
