Bangor police, along with the State Fire Marshal’s Office, are investigating a fire that damaged a vacant home on Fern Street early Thursday morning. When firefighters arrived, flames were visible in the home’s basement and on the first floor, Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bostock said Thursday afternoon.
The building’s owner is in the middle of renovating the structure. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze quickly, preventing extensive damage, Bostock said.
The emergency call was received at 5:15 a.m. by the Fire Department.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
The city’s electrician, investigators from Bangor Police Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office were at the scene Thursday investigating the fire. The cause had not been determined as of press time, but it is believed to have started near the home’s basement furnace.
