Put energy into education

In regard to the article “SAD 63 super to work with Brewer” (BDN, Nov. 29), in a fantasy world we would all love to believe we have perfect students, no problems and no worries. Unfortunately, life in every community has its share of problems.

Congratulations to Brewer High School for enacting a policy on student admissions. Give back the classroom to the teachers to instruct, and to students who are there willing to learn the opportunity to do so.

SAD 63 should not worry about spending 10 hours of possible time mulling over admission paperwork; it is probably a minuscule amount compared to their hours spent battling this policy. SAD 63 should rather spend their energy in providing those students in need of direction help by providing them tools necessary in the real world. Such as the No. 1 valuable lesson in life: that if you don’t follow rules, there are consequences.

We are very satisfied with the quality of education our four children (which includes one currently attending Brewer) have received. Keep up the good work Brewer.
