Poirier powers Tigers past Red Devils in 4th

CORINTH – Katie Poirier tossed in seven of her game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Dexter Tigers outscored Central 11-2 to pull away for a 52-44 high school girls basketball victory Thursday.

MacKenzie Davis had 20 points for the Red Devils and Erica Brownell chipped in with nine.

At Bath, Alex Merrill hit a jumper in the final seconds to send the game into overtime where the Sabers of Orrington eventually pulled ahead to stay.

Merrill totaled 23 points and 20 rebounds for Calvary Chapel and Ian Seekins contributed 20 points and 10 blocked shots.

Isaac Brower paced the Phoenix with 12 points, and Jordan Wilkins added 11.
