Help spread the word

Dear readers,

Being a reader by nature, I have found in books the greatest comfort, strength and wisdom in responding to a loved one’s substance abuse. I’m certain that many of you also have turned to the printed word – in books, magazines or newspapers, on the Internet or in other forms. I’d like to devote a column to sharing those publications that have meant the most to us; together, we’ll come up with a wide-ranging selection of medical, spiritual, practical and humorous resources to help us all hang in there a little longer.

Please send me an e-mail or letter about a few of your favorites. Tell me the title and author, and give me a brief description of each book and how it has helped you. I’ll compile a list and get the word out. If I get more than I can use in one column, I’ll sprinkle them into future editions.

Send your suggestions to mhaskell@bangordailynews.net or mail them to Finding a Fix, Bangor Daily News, P.O. Box 1329, Bangor, ME 04402.

Finding a Fix reaches a wide audience of readers of all ages and situations in life. Fueled almost entirely by your compelling contributions, it is truly a community forum. I look forward to moderating the discussion, with your help, over the weeks and months ahead.
