Traffic problems

After watching television coverage of recent City Council meetings and the complaints of Howard Street residents, I feel the need to comment on the traffic problems on my street.

When I first moved to Kenduskeag Avenue 23 years ago, it was a quiet country road; now I take my life in my hands daily as I try to get out of my driveway as cars come careening around the corner and down our road at speeds sometimes topping 65 mph.

Do you think the city would consider making our street one way going out of town, pushing the incoming traffic onto Broadway or do you think they would consider that request a bit unreasonable?

Residents of Bangor have to accept that progress and development have brought with it increased traffic and changing traffic patterns. If we want to live on quiet streets, sometimes the only option we have is to move. That said, a lot more patience and a little less speeding and red-light running would make us all safer and our city more livable.
