Mount Desert woman hurt after driving into ditch

A Mount Desert woman was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center on Sunday after she drove into a ditch around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Shaw Hill Road and Western Avenue in Hampden.

Tiffany Taite, 23, was not familiar with the area and had stomped on her brakes when she saw the stop sign, according to Hampden police. She then fishtailed, which was apparent with all the sand on the road, and landed in a ditch, said police.

She received a bloody nose when both air bags deployed and complained of pain in one of her hands, said police.

When the ambulance arrived, her hand was put in a splint and she was taken to EMMC, where she was treated and released.
