Curtis Wheeler

University of Southern Maine junior Chris Wheeler was named the Little East Conference Track Athlete of the Week. Wheeler set a school record in the 3,000 meters at the Bowdoin College Invitational on Saturday. He finished in a time of 8:34.67 besting Mike Bunker’s mark of 8:36.14 set in February 2005.

Ashley Marble

University of Southern Maine senior forward Ashley Marble was honored as the women’s basketball Player of the Week by the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association for the second straight week. Marble post three double-doubles in a 3-0 week for the Huskies. She averaged 28.6 points and 13.6 rebounds while shooting 55.3 percent from the field.

Alison Cappelloni

Colby College first-year forward Alison Cappelloni was named the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Week. Cappelloni averaged 18.7 points and 9.3 rebounds in three games.

Genevieve Turgeon

University of Maine women’s ice hockey goaltender sophomore Genevieve Turgeon was named the Hockey East Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the Week. Turgeon stopped 98 of 108 shots in the series against third-ranked New Hampshire.

Chris Card

University of Maine’s Chris Card was honored as the America East Men’s Swimming Performer of the Week. Card won two individual events and was on the winning medley relay team. He was first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.03 and first in the 200 breaststroke with 2:15.87. He also was second in the 200 IM with 2:09.36.

Keith Burgie

University of Maine’s Keith Burgie was named the Men’s America East Diving Performer of the Week. Burgie won both the one-meter and three-meter events posting 280.70 and 288.90 points respectively.

Khabir Edwards

University of Maine’s Khabir Edwards was named the America East Men’s Field Performer of the Week. Edwards won two events at the Sherbrooke Invitational. He posted a 6.64 in the long jump and tied for first in the high jump clearing 1.97 meters.
