An employee of Pine Tree Waste was struck Friday on Otis Street in Bangor by a vehicle driven by an Old Town man trying to pass the garbage truck.
Kenneth Howard, 47, of Old Town apparently drove a 2007 Ford four-door sedan onto a snowbank as he attempted to get around the truck, striking a 23-year-old male employee, Deputy Chief Peter Arno said Monday.
The incident occurred at 11:40 a.m. Jan. 19. Howard was summoned for driving to endanger and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
The Bangor man, who was picking up trash dispensers at the time, was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with neck, back and leg injuries. Howard denies hitting the man, police say.
An Orland woman hit the back end of an oil truck Monday afternoon on Maine Avenue in Bangor after it had stopped to make a left turn onto Texas Avenue.
The Maine Energy Leasing Inc. tractor-trailer had an estimated $500 in damage after the collision, and the 1999 Chevrolet driven by Angela Brown, 30, of Orland had an estimated $3,500 in damage.
Brown was shaken up by the incident, but was not taken to the hospital.
