Jill Anelauskas

Bowdoin sophomore forward Jill Anelauskas has been named the NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Anelauaskas averaged 19.0 points and 7.0 rebounds during two road victories for the Polar Bears over the weekend. Over the past five games, Anelauskas has averaged 18.2 points per game on 58.7 percent shooting.

Kari Simpson

Kari Simpson, a senior forward at the University of Maine Farmington, was named the North Atlantic Conference and the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association co-Player of the Week.. Simpson averaged 22.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Beavers, which included a 66-62 overtime in against previously undefeated and nationally-ranked Maine Maritime.

Brock Bradford

Husson’s Brock Bradford was named the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week. Bradford tallied 11 points, three assists and two steals in a 64-61 win over Maine Maritime. Bradford shot 4-5 from the field and 2-3 from behind the three-point line.

Junior Bernal

University of Maine guard Junior Bernal has been named the America East Rookie of the Week. Bernal led Maine to a pair of America East wins. Bernal averaged 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and 2.5 steals as the Black Bears extend their winning streak to five games.

Ashley Marble

University of Southern Maine senior Ashley Marble has been named the Little East Conference and Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association co-Player of the Week. Marble posted her ninth and tenth consecutive double-doubles in two wins over UMass Boston and Eastern Connecticut. Marble scored the Huskies’ final seven points, including the game-winning basket with :08 left, for 28 points.

Carolyn Freeman

Saint Joseph’s Carolyn Freeman has been named the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Week. Freeman averaged 17 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in a pair of Monk wins.

Gabrielle Cyr

University of Southern Maine junior Gabrielle Cyr has been named the Little East Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. The first-year runner placed second in the mile (5:35.72) and 3,000 meters (11:25.52) to help the Southern Maine win the Huskies’ Invitational.

Melissa Bellemore

Melissa Bellemore, a senior at the University of Southern Maine, was named the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Bellemore won three events, including the pole vault, long jump and 55-meter hurdles, and placed fourth in the triple jump to help the Huskies win the Southern Maine Invitational. Bellemore won the pole vault with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 11-3.
