A Chrysler PT Cruiser landed on its side Tuesday after a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of Pine and Garland streets in Bangor.
According to police, Tia Poulin, 24, of Kingfield was at the stop sign on Pine Street in her red Grand AM at around 4:30 p.m. When she tried to cross Garland Street, her car hit a blue PT Cruiser crossing in front of her on Garland Street. Howard Segal, 48, of Bangor was the driver of the PT Cruiser. With him was a 12-year-old passenger.
The two cars slid across the street, and the PT Cruiser flipped onto its side and was pinned against a tree, according to reports.
Occupants of both cars were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.
A University of Maine student backed her vehicle into a campus police cruiser early Tuesday, causing about $2,500 in damage to the officer’s car and another $600 to her own, according to Orono police Sgt. Scott Wilcox.
The accident was reported just after 9:20 a.m. when Bailey Hill, 22, of Old Town backed out of her parking spot near the field house and hit the right front fender of UMaine Public Safety Officer George Ash’s cruiser.
An Orono police officer came to the scene.
“I just want to make it clear that the officer did nothing wrong,” Wilcox said as he read from the police report. “He wasn’t at fault.”
Wilcox also said that no charges have been filed and no one was injured.
