Wheelchair basketball
BANGOR – It’s time for the ninth annual Husson College Wheelchair Basketball Event sponsored by the Physical Therapy students.
The event will be held 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Newman Gym at Husson College. It will raise funds for Alpha One, an organization dedicated to improving independent living for disabled persons. Admission is free; all are welcome.
Teams comprising Husson College physical therapy students, wheelchair basketball players from the Bangor High Rollers, a team from Eastern Maine Medical Center and community members will play.
Lots of good food, T-shirts and hundreds of dollars in prizes donated by community businesses will be raffled off. There will be halftime competitions for everyone.

Trophy for Maine Freeze
ORONO – The Maine Freeze brought home the trophy recently from the Port City Tourney the youth hockey team played in Saint John, New Brunswick. The Freeze was one of six teams on the ice in division Bantam “AA.”
The team’s first game was a win over a team from Halifax, Nova Scotia, with a 2-0 score. The second game was played against a team from Antiginosh, Nova Scotia, and the Freeze won 3-0. The third game was played against a team from Bedford, Nova Scotia, which the Freeze won 8-0.
In the semi-finals the 14- and 15-year-olds played a team from Saint John, and won 2-1. The championship game was played against the Halifax team, which the Freeze won 3-2.
The team now has an overall record of 23 wins, four losses and two ties. Weekend players of the game were Eric White, Evan Nadeau, Mike Morrison and Ethan Pelletier. The tournament MVP award went to goaltender Eric White.
On the team are Eric White, Evan Nadeau, Noah Frost, Cody Cross, Nic Cota, Nate Baker, Ethan Pelletier, Jake Doing, Phil Frost, Josh Couturier, Mike Morrison, Derek Duff and Joey Thompson.

Travel basketball tryouts
ORRINGTON – The Orrington Recreation Committee will hold tryouts for fifth- and sixth-grade All-Star travel basketball 10-11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at Center Drive School.
Tryouts for grades seven and eight will be 11 a.m.-noon.
