Reality TV plays part in Super Bowl

It’s Super Bowl weekend and we all know what that means – food, football, and more food.

This time, reality TV is going to have a piece of the action when Food Network’s super cake maker, Duff Goldman, designs the cake for the National Football League’s annual VIP party that’s held tonight before the Bears and the Colts face off in Sunday’s big game.

Goldman is traveling to Florida and his crew will film the cake’s creation and presentation at the bash and air it as part of the season finale of “Ace of Cakes” at 10 p.m. April 26, on the Food Network.

I haven’t seen a design, but I imagine we’ll see something amazing from Goldman as he doesn’t skimp when it comes to detail. It’s bound to be fancier than any Betty Crocker creation I could come up with, but I wonder if it tastes any better?

Before I go any further, I have a confession to make. Although I’m not as faithful about tuning in to “The Real Housewives of Orange County” as I am “Nashville Star” or “Top Chef,” I have come to enjoy watching reruns of the episodes when there’s nothing else on.

The Man on the Couch pointed out this week that there’s also a new spin-off to the show, “The Real Kids of Orange County” that only can be found on Bravo’s Web site. So, I had to check it out.

While not as senselessly entertaining as the rich and famous on the show, the site has lots to offer Orange County addicts, such as Q&A sessions with all the wives, sneak previews of upcoming episodes, and footage of Ashley out on the town with friends, and girl talk with the newest Orange County rich kids.

But for those of us who have to work, there’s always the “King of Cars.”

There doesn’t need to be an entire season, let along multiple seasons, of this one, but it is fun to watch someone who loves their work so much.

I’ve always been told to make what you love your work, and Chop does just that.

The second season premiered last Tuesday in Las Vegas at Towbin Dodge where chops wants to stay on top of his dynasty as the “King of Cars.”

The salespeople are entertaining and Chops manages to make work the place to be, but I think I’d be changing the name of my business to something that doesn’t include the words “tow” or “bin.” I can’t imagine that’s very good for sales.

The “King of Cars” with all his bling and tough-guy suits can be seen at 11 p.m. on Tuesdays on A&E.
