BELFAST – Mark Biscone, executive director at Waldo County Healthcare Inc. recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, or ACHE, the nation’s leading professional society for health care leaders.

In order to become a fellow, candidates must pass a comprehensive examination, meet academic and experiential criteria, earn continuing education credits and demonstrate professional-community involvement. Fellows also must be recertified every three years. There are some 5,400 health care executive fellows.

Biscone joined Waldo County Healthcare Hospital in August 1978 as the director of finance and was promoted to executive director in March 1983.

ELLSWORTH – Anthony Zambrano, of Atkinson, was hired by Downeast Horizons in December 2006 to be its fourth executive director in its 33-year history.

Shared Living and Children’s In-Home services are two services Zambrano is currently trying to introduce to DEH.

DEH operates two program centers and seven group homes in Hancock County. The organization serves 72 consumers and employs 80 people.

Zambrano’s previous experience includes director of operations at the Charlotte White Center in Dover-Foxcroft, administrator at OHI.Zambrano, 12 years as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, as a correctional officer at the Charleston correctional facility and as a special education teacher at Penquis Valley High School.
