Franklin, Knights spark Maine Maritime to win

WATERVILLE – Megan Franklin and Julia Knights scored 17 points apiece to lead Maine Maritime Academy of Castine past Thomas College 67-59 in women’s basketball action Tuesday.

Alyssa Burns added 13 points for the Mariners.

Karen Demers and Brittany Morin led the Terriers with 15 points apiece.

At Standish, Andrew Hippert scored 21 points to lead Bowdoin College of Brunswick past Saint Joseph’s College.

Andrew Sargeantson had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Polar Bears and Jordan Fliegel added 16 points. Kyle Jackson had 14 points and eight assists and Kevin Bradley scored 11 points.

Elbie Murphy led the Monks with 18 points and six assists. Chad Pulkkinen had 14 points and Marcus Alexander chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds.
