Warm up your keyboard and get your typing fingers ready because I have good news.
As the Bangor Daily News works to enhance its Web site, we’re adding some new features. Bangor Daily rocker Emily Burnham and bargain shopper extraordinaire Kristen Andresen already have their blogs up and going, but for you reality TV junkies, I’ll be starting Reality Bytes next week.
For those of you who aren’t savvy with Web terms, the blog will be a place on the BDN Web site where we can converse with each other in an informal way – kind of like a journal, but on the Internet. I’ll periodically post updates on shows, stars, and even video clips and photos.
But the best part is, you’ll have a say in what’s posted. We can talk about “Survivor,” “Top Design,” or “Deal or No Deal.” It’s up to you.
Finding the blog is simple. Go to www.bangornews.com and click on the Reality Bytes link starting Tuesday, Feb. 20.
One thing that’s often not included in the weekend column is information on how to sign up for shows.
The first posting of Reality Bytes will include some exciting news about a favorite of mine coming to Maine and looking for families to apply and participate. The only catch is, you’ll have to log on to get the scoop.
For this week’s scoop in print, PBS is debuting a new show in April that I’m hoping will help with my “Top Chef” withdrawal.
In typical PBS style, “Chef’s Story” is more of a documentary reality series, but it’s particularly interesting if you watched Bravo’s rowdier cooking series.
Founder and CEO of New York’s French Culinary Institute, Dorothy Hamilton interviews 27 chefs to learn what inspires them, what their lives are like in and out of the kitchen, and where they want to go in the culinary world.
The aired episodes are 30 minutes long, but a companion book titled “A Chef’s Story: 27 Chefs Talk About What Got Them into the Kitchen,” will have all the extra info.
The institute’s Web site also will have the home video release of the series and is slated to include podcasts and cell phone downloads.
The whole package is scheduled to be released in about two months, so stay logged onto the Reality Bytes blog for updates.
