DOVER-FOXCROFT – Greenville Town Manager John Simko pleaded guilty Tuesday to Class D assault in a case stemming from an incident with his former wife.
Simko was charged in September after he and his ex-wife got into a struggle over a cell phone at the Greenville Business Incubator on Spruce Street.
Investigator Jamie Kane of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said the pair argued, “tussled” over the phone and ended up on the ground.
His sentencing was continued until August in Piscataquis County Superior Court. A Class D offense carries up to a year in jail.
District Attorney R. Christopher Almy recused himself from the case because of his personal and professional relationship with Simko.
Representing the state Tuesday was Stephen Parker, assistant district attorney in nearby Somerset County.
