LEWISTON – A Korean War veteran was presented with long-overdue military medals Wednesday.

In a ceremony in his Lewiston office, U.S. Rep. John Baldacci presented Ronald Voter with the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, a Presidential Unit Emblem, a Korean Service Medal, an Army Occupation Medal and a Drivers & Mechanics Badge with Ribbon.

Voter of Lewiston was modest about the belated honor. He says some of the other men he served with deserved the medals more than he did.

He was a first-aid attendant in the Army. He was wounded Aug. 20, 1950, about six weeks after his arrival in Korea. After a month of hospitalization, Voter was sent back to the front lines and eventually saw action from the southern portion of the peninsula to the northern border.
