Dover-Foxcroft’s Center Theatre holds short-short story contest

DOVER-FOXCROFT – The Center Theatre for the Performing Arts will hold its first short-short story contest to coincide with the production of “The Compleat Works of Wm. Shkspr (Abridged)” by the Slightly Off-Center Players Community Theater Group.

The rules of the contest are simple: Write a story having to do with a theater. The catch: The story can be only 100 words long. Entries will be accepted in a youth category for those age 18 and younger and an adult category for those more than 18 years of age.

Winning stories will be published in a special section of the Piscataquis Observer on April 11. The winner of the adult category will receive a prize package including dinner for two at Abel Blood’s Pub and Restaurant and two tickets to the production at Center Theatre. The winning youth entry will receive a $50 gift certificate to Dave’s World in Dover-Foxcroft as well as two tickets to the show.

Entries must be received no later than April 4. Entries can be submitted by hand at the theater office, Abel Blood’s Pub and Restaurant, Dave’s World or the Piscataquis Observer. Entries also may be submitted by mail to Center Theatre at P.O. Box 441, Dover-Foxcroft 04426. Entrants should submit stories with no identifying information and attach a separate sheet that contains name, address, telephone number and age.
