Thomas pounds Colby Shain, Pierce spark Terriers

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Thomas College outhit Colby College 13-11 as the Terriers of Waterville defeated their crosstown rival 11-3 at the Greater Phoenix Baseball Invitational Tuesday.

Samuel Shain had a triple while James Pierce and Mike Chamard each added a double for Thomas.

The White Mules were led by Tom Salemy with three singles and two RBIs. Ryan Conlon and John LaMantia each added two hits.

Middlebury 13, USM 7

At Chandler, Ariz., Middlebury College pounded out 17 hits against five University of Southern Maine pitchers Monday en route to victory over the Huskies of Gorham.

Nick Lefeber led Middlebury with four hits and three RBIs while Noah Walker drove in four runs on three hits.

Josh Mackey had a double and two singles with three RBIs while Eddie Skeffington added three hits for Southern Maine.

At Chandler, Ariz., Billy Johnson had four hits and scored two runs to lead the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to victory over the University of Southern Maine.

Thomas Corcoran tripled and drove in a run while Matt DeLong added two RBIs for Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Ryan Bourque hit three doubles with an RBI for USM of Gorham while Ryan Gaffney added three hits.

Colby, DePauw beat USM

At Fort Myers, Fla., Megan Soultz tossed a one-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead DePauw University to an 8-0, five-inning win over the University of Southern Maine in the second game.

Colby College of Waterville defeated Southern Maine of Gorham 3-2 in the first game.

In the first game, Alyssa Crowell had a triple and an RBI while Christine Gillespie knocked in the winning run for Colby.

Anita Dixon had three hits for USM while Magan Blais tripled and Katie Martell doubled.

In the second game, Kaitlyn Davitt led DePauw with a home run and three RBIs.
