Bridgton man killed in crash on Turnpike

SCARBOROUGH – A motorist with a suspended license was killed early Friday after losing control of his van on the Maine Turnpike, according to state police, who cited alcohol as the cause of the crash.

John Rose, 41, of Bridgton, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected after his van spun out of control and rolled several times shortly before 1 a.m., police said. The vehicle came to rest in a ditch partially on top of Rose.

Rose’s license had been suspended since 2001 after a conviction for operating under the influence, police said.

The wreckage from the turnpike was cleared in time for the morning commute.
