UMaine’s Leveille first-team selection North Dakota’s Howes, Duncan honored

ST. LOUIS – North Dakota had three players named to the American Hockey Coaches Association All-American team announced Friday at the Frozen Four.

North Dakota, which lost to Boston College in the semifinals on Thursday, was represented by Ryan Duncan, the 2007 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner as the best college hockey player, and Jonathan Toews on the first team. The two sophomore forwards joined defenseman Taylor Chorney, another sophomore, who made the second team.

Three of the four teams at the Frozen Four had players make either the first or second team. Boston College senior forward Brian Boyle and Maine senior forward Michel Leveille were both selected for the first team.

Maine captain Leveille led the Black Bears in scoring with 44 points on 19 goals and 25 assists. He was also an All-Hockey East first team pick and a New England Hockey Writers Division I all-star team selection.

Only Michigan State, which plays Boston College on Saturday night in the championship game, failed to be represented on the squad.

The coaches’ all-American team is split between East and West squads. Boston College and Maine players were placed on the East team and North Dakota players on the West squad.
