Delays likely for travelers on I-95

BANGOR – Drivers using Interstate 95 in Bangor should allow some extra travel time or consider alternate routes today and Thursday, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

Deteriorated concrete on the underside of several of the overpasses along I-95 must be removed, according to Barry Prescott of Maine DOT’s Region 4 office in Bangor, where the work is being coordinated. Traffic will be restricted to one lane near the workers.

Work will proceed from the Access Road to the former Air Force ammunition dump, which is the first overpass south of Exit 182 for Interstate 395. From there, it will proceed north on the northbound side of I-95 to the Hogan Road overpass at Exit 187, cross over to the southbound side, and work back to the Access Road.

Plans call for crews to begin working around 7 a.m. and continue until 4:30 or 5 p.m. each day, weather permitting.
