Are we Maine people soft in the head? First we allowed a nuclear power plant on our beautiful coastline. All we received from that was 20 percent of the power (80 percent to the southern grid) and all the nuclear waste, which we still have and will have for the rest of our lives.
Next, we allowed out-of-state people to erect some (with plans for more) windmills all over our lovely landscape. We are all for that type of power, but we don’t get it. That power goes on the southern grid as well.
How about landfills? We are taking Massachusetts trash to bury here in Maine.
Now we will allow more out-of-state people to build huge LNG tanks on our shores of Passamaquoddy Bay. That gas will be piped south and all we get is a war with Canada. The Canadians are right, that passage into the bay belongs to them, not us. It will take just one drunken person with a rifle to put a bullet into a tank or a little errant spark somewhere to double the size of Passamaquoddy Bay in an instant. Then we won’t have to worry about anything.
