Brewer’s St. Peter battles to Speedway 95 victory

HERMON – Aaron St. Peter of Brewer stayed on the inside groove to work his way up through the field and post a win in the 50-lap Partnership for a Tobacco-Free Maine Pro Stock feature win on Sunday at Speedway 95.

The race was caution-free until lap 48, and on the ensuing restart a seven-car pileup brought out the yellow flag again.

Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs finished second while Scott Chubbuck of Wiscasset was third. Lou Mechalides of Tyngsboro, Mass., wound up fourth and Andy Saunders of Ellsworth took fifth.

Sweatt tops at Unity

At Unity Raceway, Brian Sweatt of Albion moved into the points lead with five weeks left in the season by winning his second Charger feature in a row.

Jason Ellis finished second after blowing his primary motor last seek and Tony Faulkingham took third.

Young prevails at Winterport

At Winterport Dragway, Greg Young of Raymond won the Super Pro Eliminator and outdueled Robert Chubbuck of Argyle Township to win the Super Pro/Pro Money Final on Saturday.

Nichols wins at Oxford

At Oxford Plains Motor Speedway, Nick Nichols of Farmington broke a two-year drought by outrunning a 26-car field to the checkers in the Pro Stock feature Saturday night.

Gary Drew of Windham topped Alan Wilson of Hebron to take third, while Scott Robbins of Dixfield finished fourth and Jerry Babb of Windham wound up fifth.

Oakes wins fourth at Wiscasset

At Wiscasset Raceway, Peter Oakes of Boothbay started on the pole and survived two early restarts en route to his fourth Pro Stock win of the season.

Points leader Scott Chubbuck of Wiscasset finished second and padded his series advantage over Bar Harbor’s John Phippen, who wound up sixth.

Jeff Burgess of Oakland took third, Jim Kaler Jr. of Newcastle was fourth and Dana Strout of Benton held down fifth.
