Helms RBI in 7th lifts Hawks over Ellsworth

HERMON – The Hermon Hawks scored five runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, capped off by a single by Derek Helms to drive in Zach Deabay, to rally for an 8-7 high school baseball victory over Ellsworth Tuesday.

Deabay had a double and two singles for Hermon. Paul Ormsby doubled and singled to drive in two runs and Garrett Pratt doubled and singled with an RBI.

Nick Hunnewell had a double and two singles with two RBIs for Ellsworth. Dillon Wilbur hit a two-run single.

Hampden 11, Skowhegan 1

At Hampden, Joel Neill homered, tripled and singled to drive in three runs as Hampden Academy prevailed in six innings.

Harvey Shue knocked in two runs with a double while Evan Farley doubled and singled for the Broncos.

Cody Vigue singled for Skowhegan, the only hit off Hampden’s Shawn Smith.

At Bangor, John Gagnon tripled in two runs and Tyler King hit a pair of RBI doubles as John Bapst prevailed.

Kyle Gallant added two singles and an RBI for the Crusaders.

David White singled twice for Foxcroft Academy.

At Lee, Mike Smith hit three singles and knocked in two runs to lead Bangor Christian past Lee Academy.

Adrian Durkee had two singles and an RBI fielder’s choice for the Patriots.

Bangor Christian scored three runs in the seventh on two bases-loaded walks and a hit batsman.

Travis Linscott hit three singles and drove in three runs for Lee and Dean MacDonald had a double and two singles with three runs scored.

At Hinckley, Corey Woodbury singled home T.J. St. Louis with the go-ahead run in the sixth inning as Greenville earned the season-opening victory.

The Lakers padded that 5-4 lead with four runs in the top of the seventh.

St. Louis earned the pitching win, relieving starter Emerson Sikes in the fourth inning and allowing just one run the rest of the way. Sikes and St. Louis combined to allow just three hits.

Woodbury had three singles and scored three runs for Greenville, while Richie Chilson hit an RBI double.

Zach Cottle doubled and Corey Groves scored two runs for Averill.

At Bucksport, Chris Maguire hit a three-run home run in the first inning to lift Bucksport over Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

Matt Jackson had two singles and three runs scored for Bucksport. Cam Wadleigh had two singles and two RBIs and Eddie Robbins added two singles.

Aaron Flannery singled twice to knock in a run for the Lynx and Shey Gardiner had two singles and a run scored.

At Hampden, Megan Hancock hit a single in the seventh inning to drive in Crystal Johnson and lead Skowhegan past Hampden Academy.

Katlyn Steward earned the shutout win for Skowhegan allowing four six hits and no walks while striking out eight. Emily Hodgdon doubled in the fourth inning.

Lacey Littlefield allowed just one run on four hits and three walks while striking out 14 for Hampden.

Ashley Gott tripled and singled. Littlefield had two singles and Kate Peverada doubled.

Nokomis 5, Messalonskee 3

At Oakland, Tatum Welch’s two-run single in the top of the eighth inning provided the margin of victory for the visiting Warriors.

Chelsea Boulette’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth had keyed a three-run rally by Messalonskee that produced a 3-3 tie and ultimately forced the extra inning.

Welch finished with a double and a single for Nokomis, which managed just three hits off Messalonskee pitcher Kim Hunt.

Freshman Lauren Hackey paced Messalonskee’s 10-hit offense with a double and two singles, while Boulette added three singles.

Patrice Cianchette earned the pitching win, striking out three batters.

At Husson College in Bangor, Daniel Richard allowed no runs on one hit and no walks while striking out eight through four innings to lead John Bapst to victory over Foxcroft Academy.

Richard had two singles and a triple with two RBIs for the Crusaders. Abby Perkins had a double with two RBIs and Kacy Harvey singled twice.

Amanda Lerback singled in the second inning for the Ponies.

At Hermon, Catie Cravens hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to give Ellsworth the lead and eventual win over Hermon.

Jen Richter hit an RBI triple for Ellsworth and Tessa Rockwood had an RBI double. Maggie Seavey singled twice. Craven recorded the shutout allowing five hits and one walk while striking out five.

Ashley Kelley allowed three runs on five hits and no walks while striking out 14 for Hermon. Cheyanne Woodard singled twice.

At Bucksport, Terren Hall hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to lead Bucksport past Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

Hall allowed three hits and one walk while striking out eight to earn the shutout win for Bucksport.

Caitlin Breidt had three singles and Kayla Allen doubled.

Brooke Hanscom doubled for Mattanawcook while Renee Libbey and Melissa West singled.
