WISCASSET – Boothbay’s Jason Oakes returned to Victory Lane for the first time in four years as he collected an impressive win in the 30-lap, double-points Late Model feature at Wiscasset Raceway Saturday afternoon.

Oakes, a two-time Super Street points champion at Wiscasset, led from start to finish. West Bath’s Steve Reno was involved in a lap three wreck but recovered to make a late challenge that saw him close to within two car lengths of Oakes.

But Oakes held him off for his first victory at Wiscasset since he won a Pro Stock race on July 4, 2003.

Reno wound up second with Wiscasset’s Kevin Sherman, Liberty’s Josh St. Clair and Sidney’s Chris Thorne rounding out the top five.

Oxford Plains Speedway

At Oxford Saturday, 40-year-old Randy Pottle of Groveton, N.H. led from wire-to-wire to capture his first ever American-Canadian Tour (ACT) victory in the New England Dodge Dealers’ 150. It was the first time Pottle had raced at OPS since 1995.

Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, Vt. was second with Hudson, N.H. native Joey Polewarczyk, Livermore’s Doug Coombs and North Woodstock, N.H.’s David Avery rounding out the top five.

Busch East

At Greenville, S.C., 16-year-old Joey Logano of Middletown, Conn. held off Pelham, N.H.’s Sean Caisse to win the Greased Lightning 150 at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway Saturday night.

It was the Busch East series opener.

Bryon Chew of Mattituck, N.Y. was third, Peyton Sellers of Danville, Va. was fourth and finishing fifth was Mexico City’s Rogelio Lopez.

Seventeen-year-old Jeffrey Earnhardt of Mooresville, N.C., Caisse’s Andy Santerre Motorsports teammate, wound up sixth.

Cherryfield’s Santerre is Caisse’s crew chief and was the crew chief for Logano for a portion of last season in the USAR Hooters Cup Southern Division series.

Logano drives for Joe Gibbs’ Driven Chevrolet Team.

Speedway 95

At Hermon, Sunday’s season-opening races were postponed because of rain.

The season will open on Sunday at 2:00 with a 150-lap Pro All-Stars Series Super Late Model race along with a PASS Modifieds race and features in the Limited, Super Street, Strictly Street and Sport Four divisions.
