Bangor police Officer Tyler Leighton was responding to an emergency call with his cruiser lights flashing about 10:20 p.m. Saturday when he struck a vehicle in the center turn lane at the junction of Main and Lincoln streets.

No one was injured in the crash, but the cruiser had to be towed, Sgt. Bob Bishop said Monday. The incident remains under investigation. (Nok-Noi Hauger, BDN)

Holden police Officer Chris Greeley confiscated a bag of marijuana, two pipes and a meat cleaver during a routine traffic stop Monday afternoon.

Greeley stopped Detric M. Stanley, 23, of Holden on Route 1A for an expired inspection sticker. Because Stanley had prior arrests on his record, Greeley asked him if he was carrying anything illegal. Stanley handed over the two pipes. When he got out of the car, Greeley noticed the handle of the meat cleaver between the seats of the vehicle.

When he searched Stanley, the officer found a small bag of marijuana.

Stanley was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. (Emma Potvin, BDN)

Two delivery trucks collided on State Street in Bangor Monday morning causing one of the trucks to hit the front wall of the Riverside Inn, which is attached to Eastern Maine Medical Center.

A white, three-axle truck headed north and driven by Michael Keezer, 50, of Hampden began passing a Federal Express delivery truck as it started turning into the EMMC parking lot. A third truck driven by Craig Simmons, 61, of Levant pulled out of the parking lot while Keezer’s vehicle was shielded by the FedEx truck.

Keezer’s vehicle struck Simmons’ truck and spun it into the nearby Riverside Inn, causing about $500 in damage to the building, according to police. Damage to the trucks totaled about $25,000, police reported. No charges were filed.

The drivers suffered minor injuries, police said. (Emma Potvin, BDN)
