BANGOR – Spc. Ruth E. Bowman of Plymouth was selected as the State Soldier of the Year for outstanding achievement with the 240th Engineer Group, Maine Army National Guard.

Bowman is a graduate of Kuna High School in Idaho and the University of Missouri. Her parents, John and Mary Ellen Kazian, live in Kuna, Idaho.

Bowman is assigned to the 240th Engineer Group in Augusta, where she works as the unit administrative clerk.
