Santerre car wins race in Minnesota

ELKO, Minn. – Andy Santerre Motorsports team driver Sean Caisse survived three cautions over the final 50 laps, including a green-white checkered flag finish, to win the Minnesota 150 at Elko Speedway Saturday night.

Caisse started on the pole and swapped the lead with defending series champ Mike Olsen of North Haverhill, N.H., until he took the lead for good on lap 104.

Cherryfield’s Santerre is also the crew chief for Caisse, who is from Pelham, N.H.

This was the first time that the Busch East and Busch West series drivers had run together in a points race.

Bryon Chew of Mattituck, N.Y., finished second with Mike David of Modesto, Calif., Mexico City’s Rogelio Lopez and Olsen rounding out the top five.

Jeffrey Earnhardt, the other driver for Andy Santerre Motorsports, started third but finished 24th.

There were 30 cars in the field with 16 failing to qualify.

The racers ran again Sunday in the Quick and Dirty 200 at Iowa Speedway with Joey Logano of Middletown, Conn., taking the checkered flag ahead of Nextel Cup driver Kevin Harvick, who had won the Nextel Cup All-Star Challenge on Saturday night.

Rounding out the top five were Californians Jesus Hernandez, Johnny Borneman and Mike Duncan.

Earnhardt finished 18th and Caisse wound up 37th.
