BREWER – Freshman righthander Eric White allowed only three hits and the Brewer Witches scored two runs in the sixth to pull out a 2-1 high school baseball victory over Hampden on Friday.
White improved to 4-0 as he struck out three and walked three. He aided his own cause by doubling in the sixth. Two Brewer batters were then hit by pitches, and White scored the first run when Caleb Smith drew a walk. Brad Brown then raced home with the winning run on a passed ball.
Shawn Smith singled in Hampden’s sixth and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Evan Farley. Lefthander Brennan Perry was the hard-luck losing pitcher as he struck out 11, including seven of the first nine batters.
