Big School (Classes A-B)
CAM CORMIER
Cormier, a senior sprinter for the Bangor track and field team, won three individual events and anchored a record-setting relay team in leading the Rams to the PVC large-school championship. The University of Rhode Island-bound Cormier won the 100 (11.24), 200 (23.73) and 400 (50.55) dashes, and helped Bangor’s 4×100 relay team win a conference-record 44.74 seconds.
Small School (Classes C-D)
ADDISON PELLERANO
Pellerano, a senior distance runner at George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill, pulled a grueling quadruple at the PVC small-school track and field championships. The Quinnipiac University-bound Pellerano won the 800 (2:09.51), 1,600 (4:44.69) and 3,200 (10:49.0) runs and anchored the Eagles’ victorious 4×800 relay team (9:04.02).
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
ASHLEY KELLEY
Hermon softball junior pitcher Kelley went 3-1 last week, including a 2-1 win Thursday to knock off previously undefeated Ellsworth. Kelley gave up five hits and had an RBI in the win. She earned a 3-1 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Presque Isle Saturday, striking out 16 and allowing one run on four hits, and fanned 10 in a 7-6 loss. Kelley also tossed a 3-hitter and had an RBI double in a 3-0 win Friday over Mattanawcook.
Small School (Classes C-D)
KAYLA WOOD
Wood, a junior pitcher for the Washington Academy softball team, won three games for the Raiders of East Machias. She recorded a combined 29 strikeouts, including 14 in a win over Woodland, and also hit nine singles, one triple and drove in five runs.
