Old Town High School has announced speakers for the Class of 2007 graduation, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 8, in the MacKenzie Gymnasium at Old Town High School.
Essay speakers are as follows:
Daniel Dykstra is valedictorian. He is the son of John and Shellee Dykstra of Alton. Daniel was a member of the Junior Engineering Technical Society Team and a member of the National Honor Society. He was also a student of the month recipient. Daniel will attend the University of Maine in the fall.
Benjamin Richard is salutatorian. He is the son of Paul and Anne Richard of Bradley. Benjamin was a member of the Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. He was a member of the Junior Engineering Technical Society Team and the National Honor Society. He was on the cross-country, indoor track and outdoor track teams. Benjamin participated at the Junior Prize Exhibition. He received a Citizenship Award his freshman year, the Most Promising Scholar award his sophomore year and the Bausch and Lomb Science Award his junior year. Benjamin plans to attend the University of Maine in the fall.
Others recognized: Scott LaFlamme, son of Galen and Cindy LaFlamme of Old Town. Scott was president of the Class of 2007 and a member of the Student Council. Scott was a member of the concert band, marching band, symphonic band, jazz ensemble and jazz combo. He was a member of the varsity football team, indoor track and spring track team. Scott was a member of the National Honor Society. Scott received the Most Promising Scholar award his junior year. He was also a member of the Junior Engineering Technical Society Team, participated at the Junior Prize Exhibition, was a Boys’ State delegate and was on the Maine State Student Council Executive Board. Scott plans to attend St. Joseph’s College of Maine in the fall.
Eleanor Kipping is the daughter of Katrina Kipping of Alton. Eleanor was a member of the chorus her freshman and sophomore years. She participated in the Junior Prize Exhibition and was a recipient of the student of the month award. Eleanor has also been working on the senior video. She plans to attend the New England School of Communications in the fall.
Other graduation events include Class Night, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 7, in the MacKenzie Gymnasium at Old Town High School.
End of the Year Assembly will be held on Wednesday, June 6. Festivities will include an all-school assembly at 1:15 p.m. featuring Class Skits, and at that time, the Class Will will be read.
