The American Red Cross and local sponsors will host a “Chill ‘n Grill Barbecue” and blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Brewer Auditorium. The Red Cross is trying to recover from lower-than-usual donations earlier this spring and hopes to bring in at least 200 donors to Saturday’s event.
Staff from the Texas Roadhouse will be grilling special treats for blood donors. Other incentives include free limited-edition Red Sox Nation T-shirts and “Honorary Mayor for the Day” certificates from Brewer Mayor Michael Celli, who is medically unable to donate. Donors also will be eligible to enter a kayak raffle, courtesy of Old Town Canoe, as well as a drawing for a pair of tickets to a Red Sox game.
Donors are encouraged to make an appointment by calling toll-free (800) GIVE-LIFE.
