Hermon High School
Principal Brian Walsh has announced the honor parts for the 2007 graduating class at Hermon High School. Graduation ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Bangor Civic Center.
Justin Hazlett, son of Danette and Timothy Robinson of Levant, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2007. He will attend Norwich University in Vermont in the fall.
He was a member of National Honor Society for three years, student council for two years, and a student representative for the school committee during his junior and senior years. Through JROTC, he was on the drill team and marksmanship team all four years and on the JROTC exhibition team for three years. He played baseball for three years and participated in cross country his senior year.
Hazlett received first-, second- and third-year honor roll, superior cadet award, Bausch & Lomb Science award, Spanish II award, physical education II award, and JROTC battalion commander.
Zachery Deabay, son of Scott and Margie Deabay of Carmel, has been named salutatorian for the Class of 2007. He will attend Husson College in Bangor in the fall.
He has earned honor roll status throughout his four years of high school and was a member of the National Honor Society for two years. He was vice president of his class during sophomore and junior years, participated in Key Club for three years, and was a member of student council.
Deabay volunteered with the Carmel Recreation/Carmel Days two years, and the Caravel Boosters-Bobcat Basketball Clinic for three years. During senior year he was a peer tutor and participated as a member of the project graduation committee.
He participated in soccer, basketball and baseball for four years and was a senior captain for all three sports. In soccer he received PVC second team his senior year; in basketball he received the Big East Scholar Athlete and PVC Scholar Athlete awards; and in baseball he received PVC first team during his junior and senior years.
Deabay was chosen as an alternate to the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Conference, received the Susan B. Anthony/Frederick B. Douglas Humanitarian Award and the Phi Beta Kappa Award his junior year.
