A Bangor man would not stop for police late Thursday night until a wooden fence abruptly ended his travels.

After running a red light on Union Street near the Interstate 95 off-ramp at around 10:30 p.m., Daniel Rosebush, 36, eventually stopped his car for police in the Brooks Pharmacy parking lot. But he did not halt for long, according to police reports.

Rosebush briefly walked toward Officer David Bushey’s cruiser before he bolted through the parking lot and ran toward Fourteenth Street, according to police reports. During the footrace, Rosebush swung his right arm at the officer before running face-first into a wooden fence that enclosed a Fourteenth Street property.

Rosebush told police he ran because the license plates of the borrowed car he was driving were illegal, according to reports.

Bushey drew his gun and handcuffed Rosebush. He was arrested for failure to stop for a red light, refusal to submit to arrest or detention and attaching false plates, according to reports. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and scheduled to appear in court in July.
