Fort Kent Community High School

FORT KENT – Community High School in Fort Kent recently announced its honor parts for the Class of 2007. Graduation exercises were held Friday, June 8 at the Community High School Gymnasium.

Justine Cyr, daughter of Paul and Bonnie Cyr of Fort Kent, was named valedictorian for the Class of 2007. She will attend College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor to study human ecology and liberal arts.

Cyr participated in the National Honor Society, prom committee and art club. She provided service to the community with her involvement in programs such as Special Olympics and was involved with the Maine Winter Sport Program. Her volunteer efforts included Green Bean Ski Club, 2004 Biathlon World Cup, the IPC World Championship and also volunteered with the MWSC youth air rifle program.

She participated in soccer, Nordic and alpine ski teams, track, MWSC County Nordic Team, MWSC regional biathlon team, Olympic Biathlon Development Team and qualified for the J2 Me Nordic Team and also the J1 Me Nordic team her four years at Community High School.

Sarah Bouchard, daughter of Dr. John and Carolyn Bouchard of Fort Kent, was named salutatorian for the Class of 2007. She will attend Dalhousie University to study international relations.

Bouchard participated in the debate club, drama club, key club, French club, member of the National Honor Society, prom committee, science club, Warrior Words, math team, Students Against Drunk Driving, student council and the envirothon club. She was class president and president of the National Honor Society. She provided service to the community with her involvement in programs such as Special Olympics, Youth Ministry, the Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp, volunteering for the Paralympic Nordic skiing world championships and advisory board for Aroostook Team Leadership camp.

She participated in soccer, tennis, ski team, track and intramural volleyball. She won several awards as best supporting actress and was awarded the Maine State Drama festival cast award.

Katelyn Cairns, daughter of Charles and Bonita Cairns of Fort Kent, was named honor essayist for the Class of 2007. She plans to attend Northeastern University to study international business.

Cairns participated in Students Against Drunk Driving, National Honor Society, key club, tree club, math team and French club. She served as class secretary, secretary of the key club and was involved with the Youth Ministry Planning Board. She provided service to the community with her involvement in programs such as Special Olympics, Youth Ministry, Girl Scout aid, Paralympics volunteer, Can Am dog sled races and Christian Life Center retreat workshop leader.
