Penquis rallies by Brewer in eighth 4-2

BREWER – Brad Brown singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning as the Penquis Navigators defeated the Brewer Falcons 4-2 in American Legion baseball action Thursday night at Heddericg Field.

Brad Bellemare and Nick Emery each hit two-out singles before Brown followed with his RBI hit. Tyler Speed then drove home Emery with a fielder’s choice for an insurance run.

Emery and Scott Kelley each added a sacrifice fly earlier in the game, while Dan Beatham tripled and Danny Kane doubled.

Beatham pitched a complete-game six-hitter for Penquis.

Prentiss Swett his a two-run triple in the sixth inning for Brewer after Eddie Robbins singled and Chris Maguire walked.

Robbins singled twice for the Falcons.

Trenton 19, Calais 0

At Calais, Lucas Marks belted a three-run home run to spark a seven-run first inning and later added a single as Trenton cruised past Calais 19-0 in an American Legion baseball game at DelMonaco Field on Thursday.

Nick Swanson had three singles and two RBIs for Trenton. Collin Henry hit a solo home run in the fifth and struck out all nine batters he faced. Blake Wessel tripled and Kyle Shea hit an RBI double.

Aaron Sullivan and Matt O’Brien singled for Calais.

At Searsport, Joel Neill hit three singles, including a two-run single in the fifth inning, to lead Hampden past Waldo.

Shawn Smith had two singles and an RBI for the River Dogs and Corey Harding added an RBI single in the third inning.

Caleb Ashey hit a solo home run in the fifth inning for the Wildcats. Ricky Bernosky and Tom Cameron hit RBI singles.

Orono 6, Lincoln 5

At Bangor, Matt Jones scored the winning run with two outs in the eighth inning on a throwing error to lead Orono past Lincoln.

Kash Keezer hit an infield RBI single in the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-5 for the Twins.

Dana Leland doubled and singled to drive in two runs for Orono. Jones doubled and Tyler Honey hit two singles. Jarrett Lukas had a single and two runs scored.

Cory Barnett hit an RBI triple for Lincoln. Tyler Thompson and Tyson Tash had RBI singles and Tyler Emerson tripled.

Bangor 10, Presque Isle 2

At Presque Isle, Shane Walton hit a solo home run to lift Bangor to the win.

John Cox had two singles and a double and Alex Gallant two singles for the Comrades.

Matt McGlinn hit a solo homer for Presque Isle while Logan York and Joe Soucy doubled.
