Emery helps Penquis hold off Motor City 14-12

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Nick Emery slammed a two-run homer and Josh Conroy hit a two-run single to highlight a six-run sixth inning as Penquis recorded a 14-12 American Legion baseball win over Motor City of Bangor Monday.

The Navigators rolled to an 8-0 lead after three innings, but Motor City rallied with an eight-run burst in the top of the fourth, capped by Kyle Gallant’s two-run home run.

Emery added a double earlier in the contest for the winners while Danny Kane hit a two-run single. Dan Beatham hit two doubles and Andrew Richard chipped in an RBI single and scored three runs.

Brock Bragdon knocked an RBI triple and RBI single while Nick Smith hit a two-run double for Motor City. Chris Smith and Aaron Healey added two singles apiece.

Freedom wins two

At Dover-Foxcroft Sunday, Kenton Spaulding had two singles and two RBIs to lead Freedom to a 5-3 win over Dovetail in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Generals also won the second game 13-3.

In the first game, John Flynn hit an RBI triple for Freedom and Rich Hardin singled twice.

James Dobson led Dovetail Furniture with a two-run single. Tim McCarthy, David White and Abe Landry added RBI singles.

Nick Arthers paced the Generals with three singles and two RBIs. Eric Eddy had two singles and two RBIs and Howard Whitcomb added an RBI single.

Dobson singled four times and knocked in a run for Dovetail. Paul Lancisi and Tyler Wilson chipped in RBI singles.
