JACKMAN – Ern Wallace of Jackman outlasted 41 other entrants in his Enduro car to win the 50-lap Moose River Valley 500 on Sunday. Wallace won the $500 top prize for his performance.
Wallace led the pack for most of the final 26 laps of the ?-mile track in his Ford Probe, but Wayne Ripley of Liberty nosed ahead coming off the final turn of the final lap before Wallace won the dash to the finish.
Ripley took second while Robert Merrill of Greenville Junction was third, Mark Libby of Skowhegan took fourth, and Brian Crossman of Greenville finished fifth. Russ Pepler of Liberty, Doug Whitney of Greenville, Scott Warren of Greenville, Ward Moore of Skowhegan and Jeannot Carrier of Jackman rounded out the top 10.
Ten drivers participated in a “Smoke-Out” show after the race, with Tracy Fortin winning top honors with his tire-scorching effort.
