Kimsey home runs power Bangor to District 3 title

BANGOR – Collin Kimsey slammed two home runs Wednesday to lead Bangor East to a 10-3 victory over Brewer to win the District 3 Little League Baseball all-star championship for ages 11-12.

Nick Ashey hit a triple and three singles for Bangor East. Ben Mann and Matt Cosgrove each had a double and a single.

Ben Pushard and Spencer Valley each singled twice to lead Brewer and Kyle Alexander doubled.

Brewer 11, Millinocket 4

At Bangor on Tuesday, Evan Riva, Greg Warmuth and Logan Rogerson combined to pitch a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Brewer past Millinocket.

Riva stroked a double and two singles to propel Brewer. Matthew Pushard singled three times and Chase Allen doubled and singled.

Marc Morneault walked twice and scored a run for Millinocket.

Brewer 15, Hampden 3

At Bangor, Jared St. Thomas singled three times to lead Brewer past Hampden-Newburgh.

Brewer will play Bangor East for the District 3 championship Friday at 6 p.m.

Matt Pushard doubled and tripled for Brewer. Greg Warmuth singled twice and Trevor Gardner added a double.

Ryan Manning doubled and singled for Hampden-Newburgh and Tristan Gardner tripled.

Acadian 12, Ellsworth I 5

At Bar Harbor, Adam Ranco hit an RBI double and a two-run single to lead Acadian to victory over Ellsworth I.

Bailey York tripled and doubled for Acadian and Dakota Sleeper hit a solo home run. Jordan Hodgdon and Sam Walker each had two singles and an RBI.

Anthony Gardner singled and scored three runs for Ellsworth I and Vinal Harrison added an RBI single.

At Calais, Daniel McPhee tripled and doubled to lift Calais over Ellsworth II.

Walsh Troiani-Gagner and Will Urquhart tripled for Calais and Kyle Johnson singled twice.

Bucksport 6, Calais 1

At Bucksport, Tyler French tripled and singled and scored three runs to lead Bucksport past Calais and win the District 1 Junior League Baseball championship.

Tim Nason, Matt Swazey, Evan Eldridge and Tyler McAllian each hit RBI singles for Bucksport.

Ryan Bailey allowed one run on one hit through 6 2/3 innings.

Adam Geel hit an RBI double to pace Calais.

Katahdin 5, Glenburn-Levant 2

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Dakota Sleeper allowed one unearned run and two hits while striking out 10 in 5 1/3 innings to help Katahdin Valley eliminate Glenburn-Levant.

Andy Kay provided the offense with two doubles, a single and four RBIs for Katahdin. Dillon Boulier had a double and a single. Kaleb Gallagher singled twice.

Miles Gagnon hit a double for Glenburn-Levant.

Holbrook 13, Orono-Veazie 12

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Tyler Chamberlain’s two-run double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh rallied Holbrook to the last-at bat victory in an elimination game.

Orono-Veazie scored three runs in the seventh, aided by three Holbrook errors, to take the lead.

Brandon Carney had a double, two singles and four RBIs for Holbrook. Chamberlain also had a single while Chris Potter singled twice and had two RBIs. Nick Pooler had two singles and an RBI.

Matt Storgaard had a double, single and two RBIs for Orono-Veazie. Chase Huckestein had two singles and two RBIs. Tyler Pembroke and Shane Hass each added two singles and an RBI.

Lewiston 5, Ellsworth 4

At Portland, Lewiston prevailed in eight innings, knocking Ellsworth from the state tournament.

Josh Leino, Jeff Keene and Alex Brochu all singled twice for Lewiston.

Matt Boyle doubled and singled for Ellsworth. Tim Sobel hit an RBI double while Brad Folmer tripled.
