MADAWASKA – Susan Lavertu scored three times to lead the Madawaska girls soccer team to a 4-3 victory over Houlton in its home opener Friday.
Kallie Pelletier added a goal for the 2-0 Owls. Audrey Bergeron, Jamie Nadeau and Ashley Cyr provided assists. Stephanie Nadeau had four saves on eight shots.
Courtney Putnam, Emily Bartlett and Brittney Guiod each scored for the 0-1 Shiretowners. Vanessa Sanderson and Chelsi Murray both had an assist. Beth Targonski made 20 saves on 24 shots.

Boys soccer
Madawaska 1, Houlton 0
At Houlton, Tim McDermott scored an unassisted goal with 16:42 left in regulation to lead Madawaska past Houlton.
Nate Beaulieu stopped all five shots for 2-0 Madawaska.
Ryan VanBuskirk made eight saves on 11 shots for 0-1 Houlton.

Cen. Aroostook 5, LCS/MSSM 0
At Mars Hill, Emmanuel Martinez had a hat trick with three goals as he led Central Aroostook past Limestone Community School and Maine School of Science and Mathematics.
Travis McDonald had a goal and two assists for the 1-1-2 Panthers. Logan Thomas added a goal and an assist and Carter Grass provided an assist. Logan McCarthy and Tyler Rusby combined to make six saves on eight shots.
A.J. Rossignol blocked 30 of 35 shots for the 0-1-1 Eagles.
Hermon alumni game today
HERMON – The annual Hermon High School boys and girls alumni soccer game is today at 7 p.m.
All Hermon alumni are invited to participate. The game format will have the girls and boys varsity teams and alumni teams playing alternate halves. Admission is free.
