Harvey brothers, Spencer lift Total Life to title

HERMON – Justin Spencer hit an RBI single in the fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie and lead Total Life Fitness past Montville Tommy D’s 4-3 to win the Bay League baseball title Sunday.

Total Life won Saturday’s first game 3-2 and Montville won the second game 3-2.

In Sunday’s championship game, tournament MVP Craig Harvey drove in his brother Jason on an RBI double to tie it at 3-3 for Total Life Fitness and Spencer followed with an RBI single. James Gray singled and scored a run and Craig Harvey added a sacrifice fly.

Nate Hall had two singles and an RBI for Montville. Tom Dennon singled twice and Andy Pooler had a single and a run scored.

In Saturday’s first game, Jason Harvey hit a first-pitch two-run home run in his first plate appearance in the seventh inning to give Total Life Fitness the come-from-behind win. Craig Harvey, Chris McGinnis and Gray each had two singles. Hall recorded 12 strikeouts.

Mike Cummons singled twice and hit an RBI double for Montville. Ben Cowan hit an RBI single and Pat Moran had nine strikeouts.

In Saturday’s second game, Pooler hit a tie-breaking RBI single in the fifth inning for Montville. James Cummons doubled and scored a run as Hall and Wade Oliver both added an RBI single.

Craig Harvey hit a two-run double in the first inning for Total Life Fitness. Ian Lee doubled and Jeff Miller singled and scored a run.
