BREWER – Greg Brown had a pair of goals and the Hampden Broncos unleashed a 60-shot attack en route to a 6-2 high school hockey win over Stearns on Wednesday.
Greg Taylor, Mike Brooks, and Colin Ingram pumped in a goal each for the winners. Patrick Bailey had a goal to go with a pair of assists. Karl Moser had two assists as well, and Adam Stanley had one. Julian Kaelin turned away 12 out of 14 shots.
Justin Cummings and Tyler Pelkey scored off assists by Matt Michaud and Derek Helstrom for Stearns. Nick Simon saved 54 of 60 shots.
Waterville 12, Brewer 0
At Brewer, four Waterville players each scored a pair of goals to lead the unbeaten Panthers past the Witches.
Chris Hart, Derrick Pratt, Zach Pelletier, and Nate Hart had two goals apiece for 11-0 Waterville. Cory Gardiner and Nate Whittier had the other goals. Mark Dostie faced only three shots and stopped all three to pick up a shutout.
Rob Elliott and Justin Boober combined to save 36 of 48 shots for the 7-6 Witches.
Bangor 10, Lawrence 1
At Sukee Arena in Winslow, Bobby Leavitt scored three goals and assisted on another and Justin Libbey added two goals and three assists as the Rams rolled.
Craig Franck notched two goals and Ben Payson, Brian Lever and Billy Baker contributed a goal apiece for 8-5 Bangor. Chris Zielinski made 10 saves on 11 shots before giving way to Jared Hunnefeld, who stopped both shots he faced.
Chris Warren scored the goal for the 2-10 Bulldogs of Fairfield. Everett Flannery made 34 saves on 44 shots.
Winslow 6, Old Town 4
At Alfond Arena in Orono, Jeff Paquette scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Black Raiders to victory.
Bob Picard and Scott Grenier provided a goal and two assists each for 5-6-1 Winslow, while Doug Dorval contributed a goal and an assist and Nate Poulin scored once.
Tim Cloutier made 14 saves on 18 shots.
Nick St. Louis paced 2-12 Old Town with a goal and two assists. Andy Pease and Ray Vachon notched a goal and an assist each, while Griffin Dill netted a goal.
Jeff Turcotte and Jason Karam combined for 34 saves on 39 shots.
