ORONO – Maynard F. Jordan Planetarium, Wingate Hall, University of Maine, will offer several family shows three days a week in September.
Families can see “Hubble Vision” at 7 p.m. Fridays. This visually stunning show displays dozens of deep space pictures taken by the Hubble Telescope and explains the discoveries that have wowed astronomers. It is a beautiful experience to be enjoyed by all.
Families can learn more about the turmoil of spaceship Earth at 7 p.m. Saturdays. “Worlds in Motion” is an engaging exploration of movements around us, from atoms that make up our bodies to families of galaxies in space.
And a spaceship with a course set for the dwarf planet takes off at 2 p.m. Sundays in “Destination Pluto.” The one-hour program gives families a tour of the solar system including close-ups of all the planets. Friendly flight crew tell the story of how the farthest planet is different from the rest, and how each planet is special.
Admission is $3, free to students with a MaineCard.
