Berg scores two goals as Nokomis rolls past MCI

PITTSFIELD – Allison Berg scored a pair of goals and grabbed an assist to lead the Nokomis Warriors to a 4-0 high school field hockey victory over the Maine Central Institute Huskies Tuesday.

Jordan McInnis and Sabrina Vaillancourt each added a goal for Nokomis. Beth Flanders made nine saves on nine shots for the Warriors.

Kayla Michaud made 28 saves on 28 shots for the Huskies.

Camden Hills 1, Mount View 0

At Thorndike, Megan Bauer scored the game-winning goal with 4:43 remaining in double overtime to lift Camden Hills past Mount View.

Kate Fetterman grabbed the assist on the winning goal. Dale Winsper stopped seven of nine shots for the 1-0 Windjammers.

Lyndsey Cronan made 11 saves on 17 shots for the 1-1 Mustangs.

JV: 2-2

Oxford Hills 2, Bangor 0

At Bangor, Alexis Gamache and Kaitlyn Crockett scored a goal each as Oxford Hills of South Paris blanked Bangor.

Alexis Pike saved all eight shots she faced for the 2-0 Vikings.

Hillary Babin had 15 saves on 17 shots for 0-1 Bangor.

Girls soccer

Lawrence 5, Hampden Acad. 2

At Fairfield, Katie Hopkins scored a pair of goals and Janie O’Halloran and Courtney Langley had a goal and an assist apiece as Lawrence improved to 2-0.

Natasha Morris had the other goal and Amy Pottle had an assist. Ashlie Bonney finished with eight saves on 11 shots.

Lindsay Martin and Michaela Stevenson scored for 1-1 Hampden Academy and Kayla Alley had an assist. Tessa Wood finished with 11 saves on 22 shots.

JV: 0-0

Katahdin 3, Schenck 0

At East Millinocket, Melissa Duffy scored two of Katahdin’s three second-half goals to beat the Wolverines.

Jalisa Moore added a goal on a penalty kick for the 3-0 winners of Stacyville and assisted on one of Duffy’s goals. Kayla Stevens made nine saves on 12 shots.

For 0-1 Schenck, Leann Toothaker made 10 saves on 17 shots.

Waterville 2, Bangor 0

At Waterville, Stephanie Whitten and Chelsea Tuttle scored first half goals to lift Waterville to the win.

Taylor Hart recorded three saves on five shots for the 2-0 Purple Panthers.

Rachel Roberts stopped 18 of 23 shots for 0-1 Bangor.

JV: Waterville 4-2

Brewer 1, Messalonskee 0

At Oakland, Sarah Risser converted a partial breakaway with 15 minutes left to give Brewer its win over Messalonskee.

Carolyn Tuck made 18 saves for 1-1 Brewer and Katie Bingham made 10 stops for the 0-2 Eagles.

JV: Messalonskee 4-2

Richmond 4, Greenville 1

At Richmond, Melanie Schanck posted a pair of goals to help lead Richmond by Greenville.

Shelby Hurley and Ann Weiner each added a goal for Richmond. Celia Carlton made nine saves on 13 shots for the 2-0 Bobcats.

Addie Pelletier netted a goal for Greenville while Lauren Fling made 29 saves on 50 shots for the 1-1 Lakers.

Mt. Blue 2, Nokomis 0

At Farmington, Tia Laine and Marlie Mochamer scored unassisted goals to lift Mt. Blue past Nokomis of Newport.

Em Dean saved nine out of 10 shots for the 2-0 Cougars.

Danielle Gray had 21 saves on 30 shots for the 0-2 Warriors.

Old Town 2, MDI 0

At Old Town, Katie Deshane scored two goals as Old Town blanked MDI.

Hilary Campbell, Erin St. Peter and Tiffany Gammon each had an assist for the 1-1 Coyotes. Annie Cashon had six saves on nine shots.

Elizabeth Sargent stopped eight of 12 shots for the 0-1 Trojans.

JV: Old Town 4-2

George Stevens 10, Penquis 0

At Blue Hill, Quinn Curtin scored four goals and assisted on another to power the Eagles to victory.

Emily Peake scored two goals and added an assist for George Stevens Academy, which placed 11 players in the scoring column. Lydia Clapp, Kaolin Pitcher, Lea Mattson and Alida Peake tallied one goal apiece.

Laura Overton notched two assists, while Annika Treyball, Kindle Loomis, Liz Moran and Mari Hawkins posted one apiece for the 2-0 Eagles. Kayla Eaton made one save on two shots.

Kasey Sherburne made nine saves on 29 shots for 1-1 Penquis of Milo.

Bangor Chr. 5, DI-Stonington 0

At Deer Isle, Christin Pelletier scored a pair of goals as Bangor Christian shut out Deer Isle-Stonington.

Katherine Bragg scored and grabbed three assists while Grace Poulin and Verity Ramirez each added a goal for Bangor Christian. Libby Long made three saves on four shots for the 2-0 Patriots.

Anika Powers made 21 saves on 38 shots for the 0-1 Mariners.

John Bapst 9, Central 1

At Bangor, Whitney Sinclair had three goals and an assist and Morgan Chasse contributed two goals and an assist as John Bapst triumphed.

Kristen Willard, Amber Estes, Maggie Kane and Kate Gerow had the other goals. Willard also had two assists and Kane had an assist.

Sam Maquillian made 14 saves for the 1-0-1 Crusaders.

Molly Chretien scored for 0-1 Central and Jana Philbrick made 30 saves.

Dexter 4, Penobscot Valley 0

At Howland, Sarah Domenech notched a pair of goals to lead Dexter by Penobscot Valley.

Alexis Mitchell and Anna Fournier each added a goal for Dexter. Ashley Richardson made seven saves on 21 shots for the 1-0 Tigers.

Jamie Michaud made six saves on 16 shots for the 0-2 Howlers.

Boys soccer

MDI 3, Old Town 0

At Bar Harbor, Naniel Hilliard’s unassisted first-half goal as the Trojans opened the season with a victory.

Tyler Steel converted an Abe Gladstone pass and Skyler Lewis scored off a Tarek Dekkaki assist for Mount Desert Island. John Joseph made seven saves on nine shots for Mount Desert Island.

Ethan Shanley came up with 11 saves on 17 shots for 1-1 Old Town.

JV: Old Town 4-1

George Stevens 8, Penquis 1

At Milo, Ryan Kurtz scored two goals as George Stevens of Blue Hill triumphed.

Adam Grobes, Alex Kim, Steve Ensworth, John Jagger, Dan Weinberg and Connor Meginnis added a goal apiece for the 2-0 Eagles. Rashaad Frazier had four saves on six shots.

Brian Zwicker scored for the 0-2 Patriots with Jerell Arefein collecting the assist. Richie Russell and Shane Woodward combined for 16 saves on 28 shots.

Bangor Chr. 4, DI-Stonington 1

At Bangor, Phil Dougherty scored two goals and Brandon Wilcox handed out two assists as Bangor Christian rolled.

Brett Bradford and Zach Welch added a goal apiece and Zach Kuetz an assist for the 2-0 Patriots. Sam McLeod saved six of nine shots.

Nathan Joyce scored for 0-1 Deer Isle-Stonington. Eben Powers had 14 saves on 22 shots.

Hampden 1, Lawrence 0

At Hampden, Harvey Shue scored a first-half goal to lift Hampden Academy over Lawrence of Fairfield.

Nate Burke assisted on the goal; Cameron Cox stopped all three shots he faced for the 1-1 Broncos.

Cody Fabien saved eight of 15 shots for 1-1 Lawrence.

Brewer 8, Messalonskee 5

At Brewer, Jacob Thomas and Luke Thomas scored two goals apiece as Brewer defeated Messalonskee of Oakland.

Taylor Tremble, Shun Sasaki and Ryan Nadeau had a goal and assist and Todd Ramsey a goal for the 2-0 Witches. Chris Brady had eight saves on 12 shots.

Cameron Douglas scored two goals for the 1-1 Eagles while Cameron Onsberg, David Rossignol and Jacob Erskine each added one. Sergio Servello stopped 16 of 18 shots.

Mt. Blue 2, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Zac Conologue and Jay Smith each posted a goal as Mt. Blue of Farmington defeated Nokomis.

Alex Lee and Ben Russell each grabbed an assist while Devon Zamboni made six saves on 10 shots for the 2-0 Cougars.

Mark Gustin stopped 13 of 16 shots for the 0-2 Warriors.

Central 2, John Bapst 1

At Corinth, Ryan Bean knocked in two goals to lift Central past John Bapst of Bangor.

Tyler Speed assisted on one of the goals for the 1-0 Red Devils. Tyler Pineo had 15 saves on 21 shots.

Andrew Casey scored for 0-2 John Bapst. Ethan Fale stopped 13 of 19 shots.

JV: John Bapst 2-0

Bangor 1, Waterville 0

At Bangor, Pat Bolduc scored off an assist from Mack Susi with 10:48 left in the second half, giving the defending state champions a season-opening victory.

Erik Milles made one save and faced eight shots for the Rams.

Zach Jochem made five saves on eight shots for 0-2 Waterville.

JV: Waterville 3-2

Schenck 3, Katahdin 0

At East Millinocket, Trevor Violette notched two first-half goals as Schenck shut out Katahdin of Stacyville.

Aaron Hutchins scored and had an assist while Steven Deveau and Chris Ouellette each grabbed an assist for Schenck. Lanny Thompson stopped all 22 shots he faced for the 1-0 Wolverines.

Matt Tarr made 12 saves on 23 shots for the 1-2 Cougars.

Richmond 1, Greenville 0

At Richmond, Jason Brown scored off a Brandon Lancaster assist three minutes into the second half, accounting for the only goal of the contest, to give the Bobcats the victory.

Bruce Karver made seven saves on seven shots for 2-0 Richmond.

Tim Post made 15 saves on 16 shots for 1-1 Greenville.
