They’re not “The Biggest Losers” in my book. The Man on the Couch and I spent part of Tuesday night watching the “Loser” reunion and I must say I’m impressed. For the most part, the contestants have kept the weight off and then some.
After a brief introduction of what they have been up to since their season, each contestant weighed in on the big scale. But for one, the numbers read differently from what she had anticipated.
After connecting on the show, Marty Wolff and Amy Hildreth (not to be confused with Matt Hoover and Suzy Preston, who now are married and have a baby) became a couple. Instead of displaying her new weight Tuesday night, the scale flashed “Amy I love you.”
Marty proceeded to propose and after a moment of shock, Amy said yes. I’m betting there won’t be any getting fat and happy in that relationship.
Although there was no Ben & Jerry’s ice cream involved in Tuesday night’s viewing of “The Biggest Loser” reunion special, I did feel guilty for the overflowing plate of fried scallops, crab cakes and french fries I had eaten earlier in the day.
The Man on the Couch also was inspired once again to attempt to start eating healthfully (again) and exercising regularly (again).
For the past few months, we have started a diet every Monday – with the exception of holiday Mondays, such as Labor Day. This allows us to eat junk food, fast food and whatever we want whenever we want on the weekend. We simply tell ourselves, “It’s OK, we’ll start for real on Monday.”
For the most part, our Monday diet has succeeded the day it starts (with the exception of the occasional large mocha milkshake or fast-food falter). During an excellent week, the attempt to eat well makes it all the way to Thursday. A good week gets us to Wednesday, but most of the time our habits of nonfried food, fruits and veggies only makes it to Tuesday.
Enough of my saga. The bottom line is that we have been inspired once again by the success of “Biggest Loser” contestants and are hoping that when we really start our diet (next Monday), we’ll see some results.
Let “The Biggest Loser” inspire you with its fourth season, which premieres at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, with a two-hour special on NBC.
And don’t forget, trainer Jillian Michaels is back this season to make things a little more interesting as she whips her team of underdogs into shape.
